DIAMOND BAR HIGHLIGHTS
By Sue McGill

Last Sunday, Rainbow Golf Club had the pleasure of playing the newly redesigned Diamond Bar Golf Course. Despite the fog lingering as we teed off after 10:30, the weather warmed up nicely throughout the day. The General Manager proudly claimed it to be "the best course in California," a sentiment I've heard before from the G.M. at Whitehawk Ranch!!

The course was well-maintained, with beautiful trees lining the fairways. Notably, Hole #3, a par 3 over the lake, proved challenging as 7 out of 26 players lost their balls to the water, while Steve R. celebrated a birdie on that hole! The variety of sand traps certainly added an interesting challenge to the game! If you're curious about how tough the bunkers were, just ask Richard Y. and Melanie B. The greens received mixed reviews, with many noting their unique characteristics that made them challenging to navigate. Players found them to be slow, and rimming the cup was a common occurrence. Ron T. and Sats U. both tied for the lowest putts of the day, each finishing with a whopping 33 putts!!

Thank you all for sharing your thoughts on the course! It’s great to hear that most of you enjoyed it, even if some technical issues arose with the Garmins and Golf Buddies. A special shoutout to Dee W. for her impressive net 65, and congratulations to the 8 golfers who achieved birdies, with 6 golfers earning themselves a well-deserved skin as well! For a complete list of winners, be sure to check the website. https://www.rainbowgc.org/

Thank you, Sats U., for sharing your wonderful photos at https://www.rainbowgc.org/photo-gallery and a special thanks to Nancy K. for always selecting the best post-golf dinner restaurants! We also want to extend our gratitude to Donna for her hard work in preparing everything—from the reminder notes, the scorecards, to the money envelopes for the sidepot winners and for those early mornings spent making the delicious Musubi. Your efforts truly enhance our experience, and we appreciate you!

Thank you Sue, for your kind words...

Just a note: The handicaps for the two ladies playing from the orange tees were initially calculated based on a course rating of 69.7 and a slope 118, from a distance of 5,020 yards. Gil M. estimated the yardage to be around 4,000 yards and recalculated the handicaps using that distance, applying a statistical model called "linear regression." By the way, Gil, I still don’t quite grasp that concept, even after I googled it!

Our next tournament will be at DOS LAGOS in CORONA (not Los Lagos in Costa Mesa), and registration closes 5:00 pm on October 28th. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
